Biography

Soyeon (전소연) is the leader, main rapper, and primary producer of (G)I-DLE, and one of K-pop's most celebrated idol self-producers. Unlike most K-pop producers, Soyeon writes, composes, and produces the majority of (G)I-DLE's discography from within the group. Her credits include "Latata," "LION," "Hann," "Oh My God," "HWAA," "TOMBOY," "Nxde," and "Queencard." Soyeon's production spans an enormous range — from the dark, experimental sound of "HWAA" to the rock-influenced "TOMBOY" to the campy disco of "Queencard." She was the first K-pop idol to receive the award for best producer at a major Korean music show. Soyeon's creative control over (G)I-DLE makes the group unique in K-pop, and her work is consistently cited by industry professionals as among the most artistically ambitious in the genre.
